Our Mission

The San Diego Police Canine Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offset the costs of the retired police service dog.  When a police dog retires the handler accepts the costs of providing for the dog.

These are so much more that just dogs; in many cases they've saved the lives of their handlers and community members many times over.

Here are just a few of the ways in which our organization helps:

Veterinary Care
Providing Kennels and Dog Houses
Dog Food and Medication
Non budgeted training expenses that directly impact the dog
Non budgeted equipment that has a direct positive impact on the dog
End of Life Expenses

The police dog is an athlete.  Like all athletes, over time the actives take a toll on the body.  When a police dog retires they often require extensive medical attention over a long period of time.  This is usually much more than your average pet.  Dental care alone can run into the thousands of dollars.

The San Diego Police Canine Association is committed to giving our retired canines the quality retirement they deserve.
